The customer
Sunway Property
Sunway Property is one of Malaysia’s leading township developers, with a large land bank and an established product playbook of unit layouts, floor templates and building typologies. Its business development and design teams wanted to use that knowledge to assess opportunities in-house and decide sooner which parcels to take forward.
With PODIUM, its own team now tests those playbooks on a site and gets initial design options in one to two days, not two to three weeks.

The challenge
Early feasibility needed more time than the team had

Sunway’s design team is lean and juggles multiple responsibilities across live and future development projects. Dedicating a team to early feasibility studies requires more time and resources than it can afford, so live projects take priority. Early feasibility studies by external consultants required budget that was not always available, while existing tools were slow to set up and too rigid to reuse its product playbooks easily.
Prior to using PODIUM, a single design took about two weeks, and comparing two to three options could take six to eight weeks. The team needed a faster way to test assumptions and confirm a workable product, so business development could make decisions and move towards pricing and launch.

The solution
PODIUM, one platform for site data and design
Sunway’s design team brings its own playbook of apartment templates into PODIUM, alongside the data needed to assess each site. Map layers bring together zoning, cadastral boundaries, contours, public transport and nearby developments, while market data covers demographics, household income, land transactions, unit sizes, popularity and sales pace.
With this information in one place, the team sets its feasibility and project targets instantly, then uses its own product templates to generate tower massing and unit mix options. Layouts and metrics sit side by side, allowing the team to compare scenarios. This creates a quick and easy workflow for the team to adjust the design on the fly and test what works on the site.

How PODIUM speeds up feasibility

Beyond feasibility
A new way to market property
Beyond feasibility studies, Sunway is working with PODIUM to explore better ways to market and sell its developments. At the Selangor Summit 2025, Sunway partnered with PODIUM to showcase the development potential of Sunway Rawang Industrial Park. Investors were able to enquire, review options, change the buildable size and combine plots on the spot through PODIUM. Each scheme came out as branded pages with plot areas and an artist impression.
This approach received a positive response as a new way to sell property to investors and developers. Buyers received immediate feedback and results from their enquiries instead of waiting two weeks for a salesperson to call back, helping strengthen the commercial property sales pipeline.
